Day 241 - August 29th

Because we've been away on holiday it's been several weeks since we've been able to take Millie for a long walk over the fields. Luckily the weather today has been bright and sunny so we were able to get out.

We were surprised to see that the fields that before our holiday has only just been harvested, have now been ploughed, resown and are already sprouting.

Day 240 - August 28th

Lara enjoyed making the felt fish yesterday so today she set about making a Jellyfish.

Day 239 - August 27th

I recently bought a book of instructions and templates for making super cute felt animals. Today Lara and I made some fish.

Day 238 - August 26th

I have blogged about the lilies in my Mum & Dad's garden several times this year but the stunning lilies they currently have in flower were calling out to be photographed and blogged one more time.

Day 237 - August 25th

We have a clematis growing in our front garden and earlier in the summer I was seriously thinking of digging it up because it appeared dead, but suddenly it has sprung into life and now is covered in beautiful purple flowers.

Day 236 - August 24th

My Mum & Dad have a couple of sunflowers growing in their garden and while I've been away they have shot up and are now in full flower.

Day 235 - August 23rd

When Lara was a toddler she developed a liking for Walkers Marmite Flavoured crisps. Then in 2009, Walkers stopped producing them. Word on the Internet was that the licence granted to Walkers to produce the crisps had ended. Shortly afterwards, Unilever started producing their own Marmite crisps which were available in Waitrose but sadly they weren't the same.

I was thrilled last week to see that Walkers were reintroducing Marmite Crisps again (did they get a new licence I wonder??) and was even more pleased when I was able to add some packets to my Tesco delivery today.

I was a little apprehensive when i tried them, worried they wouldn't taste like the original but happily they do taste the same. Now I just have to persuade Lara to try them!

Day 234 - August 22nd

All good things come to an end and today we headed home from our holiday in Wales. We've had a lovely break and feel very relaxed.

When we left Wales it was wet and cold ......

..... as we headed east the rain stopped and the sun came out.

Day 233 - August 21st

Another wet day.

Mid afternoon we decided to get out and pay a return visit to the Coffee Bar we visited last week at Kidwelly. Although called a 'Coffee Bar' it is actually more of a tea shop/restaurant with an arts and crafts feel, selling delicious cakes and others refreshments and a selection of handmade craft items.

Day 232 - August 20th

Today started out dry so after lunch we headed to Carmarthen for a mooch around the shops. Unfortunately not long after we arrived the rain started.

There was no alternative but to take shelter in a cafe and sample the local cakes or in my case a very large slice of Lemon Meringue Pie!

Day 231 - August 19th

Today has been wet. Very wet. We spent the day at the house watching DVDs and playing board games. Lara was thrilled that her constant request that we play Monopoly was answered. She was even more thrilled that she won!

Day 230 - August 18th

It's been another glorious sunny day here in Wales so we decided to visit Aberglasney Gardens.

Aberglasney House and gardens has been owned by the Aberglasney Restoration Trust since 1995 and has undergone much work and restoration since that time. It was the subject of a television series ' A Garden Lost in Time' which documented the restoration of the garden.

There are various gardens within the site. The mansion house overlooks the Cloister Garden.

There are also walled gardens.

Doors in the walls give sneak peeks of what's outside.

Outside the tea rooms is the Pool Garden.

The Sunken Garden contained a pool with a silver coloured orb in the middle. The pool gave the illusion of the water being jet black.

In 2005 a new garden was created within the ruined parts of the courtyard of the mansion. The remaining walls were stabilised and covered with a huge glass roof. The new garden now contains Orchids (sadly none were in flower today), Palms and other hot climate plants.

The flowers in all the gardens were of course the stars of the visit.

All in all it was a really good afternoon visit made all the better by the lovely weather.

Before driving the Aberglasney we had drive to Pembrey Country Park again, to play crazy golf and to ride the Cobra Toboggan Ride.
