Day 218 - August 6th

After a night of torrential rain, today turned out to be another lovely sunny day so we made the most of it and had a fairly full day.

We started off with a game of crazy golf at Pembrey.

After Crazy Golf we drove onto Laugharne to visit Laugharne Castle. Not as intact as Kidwelly Castle, but still a nice place to visit.

Built into the ramparts of the castle is a summer house where poet and writer Dylan Thomas and author Richard Hughes wrote.

After visiting the castle we followed in Dylan Thomas footsteps along 'Dylan's Walk' beside the castle wall to the 'Boathouse' where he lived prior to his death in 1953 aged just 39.

The tiny house was perched on the edge of the cliffs with a spectacular view of the estuary. Unfortunately photographs weren't allowed inside the house.

Before reaching the boathouse we past a small wooden building.

A plaque beside it stated 'This is not the Boathouse. This is a garage belonging to the Boathouse. It was erected in 1925. Dylan Thomas used the garage as his writing shed.' The inside of the writing shed was largely how it would have been in Dylan's time.

After Laugharne we drove up the cost to Pendine Sands for an evening stroll before returning to our house.
